Alcohol Detox Program

Alcohol use disorder or addiction is something that happens over time as heavy drinking occurs frequently, causing your body to have to adapt to the presence of alcohol in your system. When you abruptly stop drinking alcohol, then your body needs time to adjust again out of the adjusted state that it’s in. This process leads to withdrawal symptoms, which in the case of alcohol dependence, can be dangerous, and therefore professional treatment is always advised.

In our alcohol detox program for residents of Fort Worth, you won’t have to face your alcohol withdrawal symptoms unaided – our alcohol detox program allows you to utilize medications that reduce your symptoms significantly, thereby making your withdrawal process far easier and less dangerous because medications help to manage your symptoms and health as well as medical monitoring should your symptoms be severe.

In our alcohol detox program for residents of Fort Worth, you will be given medications such as benzodiazepines which include Valium and Librium as well as anticonvulsant medication such as Tegretol and Neurontin. If a person is resistant to benzodiazepines, then barbiturates may be used to treat their symptoms.

Drug Detox Program

Our drug detox program for residents of Fort Worth provides you with the best way to overcome withdrawal symptoms that are associated with quitting meth, heroin, prescription drugs, cocaine, and other addictive drugs. Your withdrawal symptoms won’t cause you to feel overwhelmed or flood you with cravings because the medications that are a part of our drug detox program manage your symptoms and reduces them so that you can feel far more comfortable through the detox process.

You will have the option to undergo drug detox in an outpatient setting where you’ll be given safe medications to reduce and manage your various withdrawal symptoms and if you have severe withdrawal symptoms, then you can be monitored in our inpatient program to ensure that you have a safe recovery which is important for drugs such as Xanax which can be dangerous to abruptly stop once physically dependent on it.

Withdrawal symptoms are usually things that prevent you from achieving your recovery goals but our drug detox program can transform the experience into something much easier to handle thus reducing the chances of relapse and helping to open the door for further treatment as you work toward long-term sobriety and overcoming the causes of your addiction.

How Long is Detox?

Drug and alcohol detox tend to all take the same amount of time to complete because that is how long it takes for your body to return to normal function after being dependent on drugs or alcohol. For most people, their detox program length will be around 5 to 7 days. Symptoms will begin after just a few hours – usually between 6 and 12 hours.

For most people, symptoms will reach their peak intensity at around the third day but this peak may happen sooner. After about 5 days of detox, you’ll either be ready to complete your detox program or you’ll be feeling much better as you near the end of your drug or alcohol detox program.

How Long is Rehab?

The length of each person’s rehab depends on their unique needs. One person may receive the help they need in a 30-day short-term outpatient program followed by aftercare services while another person may require a long-term 90-day inpatient rehab program followed by outpatient rehab programs and aftercare programs.

Your caseworker will sit with you to better understand what your needs are and then create a matching treatment program including the length of the program. You can expect rehab to last 30-, 60-, or 90-days at a time with the possibility of additional programs depending on what your needs are.

MAT

MAT or medically-assisted treatment is a long-term treatment program to help people who suffer from the long-term effects of addiction such as problems with brain function due to long-term opioid abuse. The medically-assisted treatment gives a person medication that will help to restore healthy brain function and reduce cravings and any other persistent withdrawal symptoms such as depression. It requires that you also go through behavioral therapy because the long-term goal is to no longer need treatment because you’re able to manage your addiction by yourself.

MAT programs help to save lives because some people struggle to maintain their sobriety and when they relapse, they are highly susceptible to overdose. With the medications provided, the effects of alcohol and opioids can be blocked so that relapse cannot occur.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

The purpose of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is to help transform a person’s life on every important level so that long-term sobriety can be attained. It helps to build motivation for positive change, alters behaviors positively, helps a person to learn new coping skills, and helps a person to heal from the underlying causes of their substance abuse. CBT explores a person’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors so that underlying conflicts within the person can be resolved so that long-term sobriety becomes possible. CBT is one of the most effective addiction treatment models and often forms the basis of effective treatment.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

The dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) treatment model is similar to cognitive behavioral therapy but with a few differences. It is generally used as a treatment for mental health conditions such as bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, and substance use disorders.

DBT seeks to help a person regain control over their life, help to be more emotionally engaged in their life, helps with problem-solving skills and helps a person to feel more connected with others. It is one of the most effective treatment models for addiction and can be completed in a group or private setting.

Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT)

Rational emotive behavioral therapy or REBT is a type of psychotherapy that aims to help people to positive change the way they think and reinforces healthy beliefs and behaviors. It is very effective at helping people with co-occurring mental health disorders where dysfunctional behaviors and thoughts can be improved giving the person a new way to think and behave.

REBT essentially takes the stance that most thinking and behavior stems from irrational beliefs and helping the person to think more rationally and honestly about their life and behavior will help to open the door to positive, lasting changes.

Dual Diagnosis Treatment

An overwhelming amount of people with substance use disorder also suffer from a co-occurring mental health disorder such as bipolar disorder or an anxiety disorder. What often happens is that a person uses drugs or alcohol to self-medicate their untreated mental health disorder symptoms which only causes more problems as time goes by.

Dual diagnosis treatment is an important treatment program that essentially treats a person’s addiction while also treating any mental health disorder that they may have thereby improving their long-term recovery because the true causes of the addiction are treated. It’s important that both an addiction and mental health disorder be treated at the same time to prevent relapse.

EMDR

EMDR or eye movement desensitization and reprocessing is a treatment method that can help to rewire a person’s response and behavior to certain stimuli. It uses sporadic visual stimulation to help a person with trauma or other intense emotions to unpack it and change the way that they would normally respond. A person will recall a traumatic memory and through the use of a machine, it can help to reprogram their brain reducing the intensity of the stored emotions and feelings associated with the event.

It is a cutting-edge treatment that we offer at Resurgence Behavioral Health that can be particularly effective in treating an addiction where trauma is the cause of substance abuse, allowing for profound positive changes in the way a person feels.

Relapse Prevention

Relapse prevention forms an integral part of addiction treatment as it helps people to have a strategy against relapse. Relapse prevention can help to teach people what relapse looks like before the relapse occurs and understanding the stages of relapse, helping to empower a person to act while they are able to – before driving to go buy alcohol or drugs.

Relapse prevention looks at what triggers your substance abuse and gives you practical advice on how to overcome it so that it doesn’t take you down the stages of relapse. Resurgence will help you to make a relapse prevention plan so that you know exactly what you can do and who you can reach out to in the event that your relapse prevention techniques fall short.

Group Therapy

Group therapy is a format of treatment that allows a person to be among other people in a rehab program. Our group therapy lets you learn from your peers and helps you to understand that your feelings and experiences are shared with other people. It can help you to learn in ways that you might not in one-on-one therapy and it can improve your recovery by sharing your experiences and how you overcome them with your peers. It also improves communication and socializing skills. It can also help with self-esteem and self-awareness.

Experiential Therapy

Our experiential therapy is considered to be a hands-on type of treatment where a person will take part in activities instead of just talking to a therapist one-on-one to help them to express emotions and deal with past traumas. Essentially, a person will gain a better understanding of who they are and their experiences by doing a purposeful activity, giving them a chance to see how they respond and what emotions they feel.

Some of the activities that may be a part of experiential therapy at our rehab for residents of Fort Worth include art therapy, music therapy, animal-assisted therapy, wilderness therapy, adventure therapy, and more. Many people may respond better to this type of treatment when they don’t feel comfortable talking about the intense emotions or experiences with a healthcare worker.

One-on-One Therapy

Your behavioral therapy will be carried out in one-on-one settings as well as in group settings. One-on-one or private therapy is when you and your mental health professional will sit with you in a private as you undergo behavioral therapy. Privacy helps to allow a person to feel safe and comfortable so that they can talk about sensitive subjects without feeling like they are being judged by others or too vulnerable.

Private therapy is an important way to provide behavioral therapy and many of the profound changes that you will go through will happen during your one-on-one therapy sessions with your compassionate mental health expert.
